Welcome to the start of National Patient Recognition Week! Each year the first week of February is dedicated to patients in the health care field. In 1995 John O’Malley created this unique week long celebration. Most observances, within the health care field, focus on a certain illness or health care profession. Upon seeing this O’Malley decided it was important to dedicate some extra time each year to ensure that health care patients are getting the care they need. The week is designed to give professionals in the field a chance to reflect upon the ways in which they serve patients and how they could better care for these individuals. National Patient Recognition Week allows each patient to see how much value their nurses, doctors, lab technicians, and all other medical personnel place in the care of each individual patient.
