Today, January 26th, is Toad Hollow Day of Encouragement – the perfect day to make a heartfelt connection with someone by sharing a word of encouragement or kindness.
Ralph C. Morrison started to use the words “Toad Hollow” in many of his short stories after hearing the name of an old school from one of his students who used to attend “Toad Hollow Country School.” Many people inquired Mr. Morrison about where Toad Hollow might be, and he always answered with “only in your heart.”
That was the very brief story of the start of Toad Hollow Day of Encouragement. Ralph Morrison and his fellow voluntoads wanted people to recognize this day to share what they know and help where they can. But, these people don’t think only January 26th is a good day to do so. Everyday is a good day to spread a kind word and do a good deed!
