Take Back the Night is an international organization and event that takes a stand against all forms of sexual violence. Take Back the Night events are hosted in over 30 countries worldwide. The organization first came to be in the early 1970’s with a focus on sexual violence against women. Since then, the group has adapted to encompass and fight all forms of violence against all persons. While sexual violence against women remains one of the main focuses, Take Back the Night takes a stand against many types of social injustice.
Most Take Back the Night events consist of a rally, speaker/vigil, and march. These events take direct action against all forms of sexual or domestic assault. Speakers at these events are often victims of sexual assault or violence who have chosen to share their stories in an attempt to shine a light on the truth about sexual assault.
Each year Minnesota State University Moorhead and Concordia College work together to host a Take Back the Night event. This year’s event will be held in the MSUM campus mall beginning at 5:00pm and last until 9:30. All are welcome to attend. For more information please visit the links below.
