The School of Nursing and Healthcare Leadership is excited to announce that one of our faculty members and one of our alumni have had their article published in a major publication.
Tracy Wright, PhD, RN-BC, CNE and Therese M. Jacobson, DNP, APRN, CNS, CWOCN have had their article published in MEDSURG Nursing, the official journal of the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses (AMSN).
Their article, under the section “Continuous Quality Improvement” and titled “Improving Quality by Taking Aim At Incontinence-Associated Dermatitis In Hospitalized Adults” covers how “A practice-improvement project was launched to implement an evidence- based intervention bundle for incontinence-associated dermatitis (IAD) and evaluate its impact on the identification, prevention, and management of IAD in hospitalized adults.”
About the authors:
Dr. Wright is a certified nurse educator who has worked in nursing education since 1998. The last several years of her career in nursing education have included extensive web-enhanced training, as well as delivery of an online nursing curriculum. She is currently a full professor and graduate faculty member teaching in the masters program at Minnesota State University Moorhead, where she is involved in numerous graduate-level evidence-based practice projects and research studies. Dr. Wright’s nursing practice experience includes medical-surgical nursing, pediatrics, neonatal intensive care, women’s health, and postpartum care. Her research focuses on women’s health, urological conditions, vulnerable populations, psychometric analysis, and nursing education. Additionally, Dr. Wright has served as a Clinical Research Coordinator for a regional health care setting overseeing clinical drug and nutritional trials and has strong interests in nursing informatics.
Therese Jacobson is a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) alumnus of Minnesota State University Moorhead, and a certified clinical nurse specialist on a multi-specialty surgical nursing unit at St. Marys Hospital, Mayo Clinic and on Gonda 12 Outpatient ENT. She has served as co-chair of the Rochester Nursing Clinical Practice Committee, the Mayo Clinic Nursing Clinical Practice Committee, and the Pressure Ulcer Prevention work team. Her nursing practice experience includes medical-surgical nursing, float staff, discharge planning coordinator, and wound ostomy continence (WOC) nurse. She has mentored nursing staff on evidence-based practice, continuous improvement projects, poster design, and manuscript development. Her research has focused on cervical collars, support surface of a lateral transfer chair, and the impact of preoperative education on anxiety following radical prostatectomy surgery. Therese is also a certified WOC nurse and has served on regional and national committees of the WOCN Society.
