This year National Eating Disorders Awareness Week is being held from February 23rd to March 1st.
It is a week to spread awareness of the “seriousness of eating disorders and to improve public understanding of their causes, triggers and treatments. By increasing awareness and access to resources, we can encourage early detection and intervention, which can improve the likelihood of full recovery for millions.” (http://nedawareness.org/about-nedawareness)
This years theme is: I Had No Idea. It stresses how important it is to intervene early and recognize the wide range of people affected by eating disorders. Many significant early signs are overlooked, ” I Had No Idea”. For each day of National Eating Disorders Awareness Week, they target a different audience and share specific education, resources, information, and provide help. A key goal of #NEDAwareness Week is to direct individuals to a free online screening for eating disorders at www.MyBodyScreening.org.
