Each June, the National Safety Council celebrates National Safety month as a time to bring attention to key safety issues. “Safety: It takes all of us,” is this year’s theme. The theme was chosen with the purpose of continuously reducing risks by getting everyone involved.
The council encourages both organizations and communities to participate in National Safety Month with the purpose of educating and encouraging safe behaviors to prevent injuries and deaths. To participate, find ways to involve everyone in reducing risk in you workplace, school, family, or organization.
Each week during the month a different safety topic is focused on. This year the weeks are:
Week 1: Prevent prescription drug abuse
Week 2: Stop slips, trips and falls
Week 3: Be aware of your surroundings
Week 4: Put an end to distracted driving
Bonus Week: Summer safety
