MSUM’s Nurse Educator Track

MSUM’s Nurse Educator Track

Earning an MS with a major Nursing & an emphasis in Nursing Education

Except for the practicum courses, which can be completed near your home, the theory portion of the Nursing Education Master’s degree is entirely online. This is quite convenient if you are busy working during the day, are a busy parent or spouse, and do not otherwise have the time to work toward earning your Master’s degree. The MS in nursing education endeavors to expand your knowledge and skills in the field of nurse education, whether you are new to the field or have years of experience already. Furthermore, this degree can be earned in three years if you continue your studies through the summer semesters. The program requires approximately 200 hours of both precepted academic and clinical nurse educator hours. As part of your culminating work, you will also complete a thesis and an oral examination. In addition, the program curriculum supports you in your preparation for the Nurse Education Certification (CNE) national examination, which is offered by the National League for Nursing.

Some potential courses you may take within the graduate nursing program include:

Healthcare Delivery Systems, Policy, Financing, and Leadership; Transcultural and Social Perspectives; Health Promotion and Disease Prevention; Advanced Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapy; and Nurse as Educator.
