June is designated as Migraine & Headache Awareness Month. Migraines and headaches impact a large portion of the U.S. population; over 37 million people are diagnosed with migraines and 47% of the adult population experience headaches every year. Although common, these disorders are often poorly recognized and inadequately treated.
The theme for June 2014 is “Dreaming of a World without Headache and Migraine.” The purpose of the month is to empower those affected by migraines headaches, and other related disorders. Awareness and support of the disorders is achieved through education, support, advocacy, and research. To show your support, wear purple.
